Hey! For those of you that have followed me for a while… you know that I’ve spoken about writing a book FOREVER 👁👄👁 welp, I finally did it! I have wanted to be published for a bit, and I finally bit the bullet (see what I did there?) and self published. It was a very eye opening experience—to say the least and I can’t wait to do it all over again. I even started my own publishing company! 😁
My memoir is entitled “Oceans + Heavens”; it captures all of my significant experiences when it comes to romantic relationships, friendships and motherhood. My book speaks to empowering Black women to reclaim their time, peace and self-love after failed relationships. Especially those under the guise of “all things Christian marriage/relationships” because frankly those can be the toughest of them all! Whew!
I was intentional to not only share my personal stories about romantic relationships, but also wrote about the plight of being a young Black woman that also experiences hardship (and support 🤗) with girl-friendships and motherhood, too. Too often we are expected to handle all of the things AND be our best selves—without being the best to ourselves. My long term goal is to invoke conversation about unspoken emotions and healing that will reach people (women specifically) who believe that they are alone in each of those circumstances. Because, trust me girl—my heart has been through it all!
I hope that this body of work reaches the people it is intended for well, maybe you or someone you know needs to read the often unspoken words that may lead to healing.
